SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER / PROJECT MANAGER

Fran Hickman Design & Interiors is looking for a talented Senior Interior Designer with a solid background in leading design projects.
Fran Hickman’s interior and architectural design studio was founded in 2014. Driven by a profound belief in the power of design to shape how people feel, our work is underpinned by a clear understanding of the critical role that built environments play in daily life. Our objective is not just to make spaces feel special but to make people feel special within them.
An award winning and fast paced growing studio based in London, we are working on exciting projects from high-end retail and office spaces through food and beverage to residential developments and private homes all around the world.
The Senior Interior Designer must have a minimum of 5 years experience working within the UK and international markets on high-end residential and commercial design projects, along with a relevant degree or education in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
The ideal candidate must be strongly confident in a client facing role and have the ability to lead a team through the design process, from concept to completion, working alongside and under the creative direction of Fran.

Core responsibilities will include:
– Work to a written or verbal brief provided through the design director
– Liaise with clients directly to ascertain their goals, visions, likes and dislikes.
– Create and present design schemes.
– Prepare project programme outlining resources and delivery milestones.
– Take responsibility for the development of the design and the project with input from the design director
– Prepare and develop with the team where required, drawings, models, images, material & mood boards and other documents relating to the design
– Project manage the design process, materials, contractors and suppliers through from concept to completion, ensuring that time is appropriately managed and deadlines met.
– Produce schedules for building, electrical and bespoke joinery packages.
– Manage project costs to ensure delivery within budget.
– Oversee production and manage drawings, schedules and specifications.
– Build and maintain effective supplier and contractor relationships to ensure progress and the highest of standards of work.
– Manage and coordinate works on site.
– Manage and delegate to junior members of the design team.
– Communicate progress, problems and any other relevant design or project information effectively to the director and the COO.

Essential qualification & skills required:
– Have an Industry recognised diploma or degree in Interior Design and 5+ years experience
– Experience in dealing with clients, contractors and other specialists in a highly professional manner
– Experience in the design of bespoke furniture, FF&E procurement, including sourcing, management of suppliers and very good knowledge of materials and bespoke fabrication
– Excellent production of design documentation including providing leading interior package documentation with technical drawing
– Knowledge of current building regulations, technical/structural build details and tender packages.
– Excellent leadership skills and understanding of the designer role in the co-ordination and integration of project information and management
– Understanding of financial aspects of running a design project on time and on budget
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Proficient in AutoCAD, EstiMac and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign essential)

Salary negotiable based on experience
